The New Ashton Primary School development consisted of the construction of a new build Primary School, Building for Tameside Council.
The scope of works consisted of reduced level excavation including site clearance; substructures including excavation and reinforced concrete together with the associated framework; drainage including both foul and surface water, service ducting and external works which incorporated tarmac roads, paths, play areas and car parks together with concrete ledgings and kerbs.
The drainage package in particular included interesting and challenging items of works which were the excavation for and installation of a new attenuation tank with a designed volume of 420m3; all associated drainage to the tank and a pumping station were installed successfully.
The drainage from the site was connected to the existing by ACS and this included a foul connection some 2m deep into a UU combined sewer and a surface water connection which entailed excavating and installing a 225 diameter pipe some 55LM within a busy highway and connecting into an existing surface water sewer at a depth in excess of 4 meters.
All traffic management and carriageway reinstatement was carried out by ACS to the satisfaction of the Local Authority.
During the progression of the works the client often complimented ACS on their good practice, workmanship and general professionalism and as such ACS were awarded four other schemes from the same client.
